17th August 2013
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: SSW
Wind Stength: F4-6
Surf / Sea State: Waves chop
Air Temperature: warmish
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: cloudy then sunny
Max Speed: 24.02 kts (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 10.45 nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Forecast for SW wind split the local sailors ½ going Manor, where SW is a better direction, but no real waves so I joined the wave heads at the dip which produces the better swells.
The wind was freshening from a F4 (14kts) so tried 7.0M/120L, which was way over after a couple of runs, so switched to Fanatic Freewave / 6.0 Hellcat for great fun in the huge swells near the river mouth, haven’t seen it so big for awhile.
Tried to join Maker over the bar where the swell looked good, but couldn't find a way thru the big waves.
It was excellent at the start with big waves / swell, but unless you have a small board / wave board – it would have been a nightmare, as the drop the other side of the wave must have been 4/5ft - as Dave C found out on his Tabou Manta slalom bd / 5.7 race combo! Wrong kit mate.
The wind picked up to guessing 25/30kts gust and killed me off. I had to leave 4.30, couldn’t be bothered to change again to 4.7 it was that windy, so packed up as it swung off and dropped.
Launch was easy at the dip but again the fun was playing swells. Just wished it stayed OK for 6.0 and didn’t blow so much.
Didn’t do much mileage sitting out the strong wind, hoping that would ease but it didn’t till late…..
Several sailors out but not many kites as normal on low tide
